Are my old guns worth anything?

I have an old Colt 25 w/ holster that's worth $400
Hammerless Fair condition. This is a pawnshop appraisal; does that sound correct?

I have a Winchester 22short Model 74 Patent Pending Ser: 110936.
It was my dads first gun; he shot it a lot and its in great shape!

All the metal is in very good shape inside barrel is incredible! Somebody, probably in my family, schlaced the wood w/o removing it...Looks fixable. Functions fully.

Functions fully. Everything looks fully restorable. Metal has a dull antique look to it; no luster. Same w/ stock and fore grip.

I have inherited these guns. I cannot decide if I want to keep them; so I would like a general idea of what I'm sitting on.

I can send pictures if you want to see them.

If I keep them, what do I need to look for in a gunsmith. I would just want someone to disassemble, clean, lube and preserve.

  Thats a little above market for a fair condition .25 , realistically $350 is about where you are at on the Colt.
  2.
  Being chambered for the short really helps this gun maybe up to $500 depending on condition.
  3.
  Not much collector value here, $100 give or take.
  4.
  Trade name gun made for Shapleigh Hardware, likely by Cresent. Probably less than $100.
  You might be able to find someone who would give $ 850- 900 for the group of guns. The only variable is the Winchester, it might be worth a bit more or less than I quoted depending upon its condition, hopefully it has not been refinished. A few pictures would sure help.

  I basically agree with knifesmith. If you provide good detailed pictures from different angles you can probably get better estimates of the guns, but the ones you just got are probably within the ballpark.
  
  In terms of cleaning, lubing, anyone who claims to be a "gunsmith" should be able to do that for a nominal fee (Say $10-50 per gun, depending on what exactly is involved).
  
  But you don't really NEED a gunsmith to do that for you. If you have any mechanical aptitude you can probably do it yourself pretty easily, and/or if you have a friend who is knowledgeable about guns, he can probably help.
  
  Also, learning how to take them apart for routine cleaning is sort of part of the rite of passage of acquiring any new gun, so if you have any interest in shooting them, you might as well learn how to do it.

  Select a photo hosting website such as Hunt 101, Photoshed, etc.

  Transfer and save your photos from your hard drive to the hosting website. Follow their individual instructions.

  Put the curser between the two (img) (img) terms and select `paste'.

  Some folks are having problems figuring out the new Hunt 101 software so here is the brief Process list:
  
  Log in
  Select 'Upload Photos'
  Scroll to 'My Documents' select
  Select 'My Pictures' from the list
  Double click the photo you want uploaded
  Select 'Upload/Submit' button
  Select a gallery or select the 'Process' button (I just use Process)
  Double Click the thumbnail that shows up
  Select Icon at right of URL line
  Select and Copy the 'Direct' URL (bottom line)
  Go back to the message frame on Gunbroker Forums
  Select the
  Paste the URL between the (img)picture url(/img)
  Preview
  
  Now this sounds like a lot but it takes me about 30 seconds to get an image onto the forums using this process. If this one is too much effort, try Image Cave as another source.

  Also, if I should want to sell, what am I getting into here? Do I need to have a dealer list this for me? or am I ??????? I don't know. I'll do some reading up. If I sell, I want it to be to someone who's looking for what I have.

  I assume you're going to sell on Gunbroker. You can do the listing yourself. Most if not all the guns you have mentioned are C + R eligible meaning that once the buyer has sent you a copy of his license you can send the gun directly to him. Of course if the buyer doesn't have a license you'll ship the firearm to the buyers FFL.
