Any comments on U.S.Fire Arms Mfg Co.?

Is it worth trying to track one of these down? are they really made like the old Colts? Function, fit , finish?
Looks like Davidson's is the only source.

    They are NOT made like the old Colts...they are likely better! Good stuff all the way around.

    Colt should get back in the SAA game and make revolvers as good as USFA again.

    They got too many beancounters over there at Colt, to do that. That is the reason they are mostly out of the revolver business now. Yes, they still make some SAA's, but not like they used to.

    To the OP, yes, those USFA Copies are as good, or better than the current Colt's. That means the Colt SAA, not the Colt Cowboy.

    When this co started they were in the Colt building using Colt machinery. Fit & finish is excellent.

    I have no doubt at all that these USFA (US Fire Arms) guns are better than any Colt has produced.

    The USFA SAA design guns are virtually flawless, even their lower end "Rodeo" model, which is as good as any of the higher end guns. The difference being fit and finish. I have two of the early Rodeo models with consectutive serial numbers (D2xx range)and have fired 1000's of rounds through them without a hiccup that couldn't be traced back to my sloppy reloading. Their higher end guns are superbly finished in color case hardened and blue. They are also producing other guns now and I personally would be proud to own any of them.

    The USFA guns are miles ahead of the Italian Uberti guns. Uberti guns are good, no on should say they are not, but there is no real comparison between Uberti and USFA. I have Uberti guns and I shoot them all the time, but they are not of the same quality.

    My answer is, "Yes, but..." Many of the SAA design USFA's are in servcie with Cowboy Action Shooting (CAS) and a good number of them have been worked over by cowboy gunsmiths. The same can be said of any SAA reproduction or even original Colts. Depending on who did the work, the guns may be wonderful or not so wonderful. I personally would rather get my hands on the gun (rather than buy it unseen and unhandled) to check it out prior to prchase because so many of them have been worked over poorly and the owner is trying to get rid of them. A good, used USFA is a great gun.
