Remington Model 11

I have a Rem. M11 that has a 28" cyl. bore. Is this factory?
It is a 28" solid rib barrel, and is marked CYL underneath
the barrel, right in front of the extension.

    I have a Model 11 Remington marked with "Property U.S.Navy"
    that needs a barrel with the CUTTS Compensator. Is their a difference between the Model 11 and the "SPORTSMAN" barrels?
    Thanx for help..... I know squat about shotguns and want to acquire a "correct" barrel with Cutts for this WWII veteran

    The crr means it was built April 1946

    I have a remington model ll in 12 gauge made in 1925. it has a 30" full choke solid rib barrel.I hunted with it many years and i sure would not sell it for $100.00. I've never had to replace any part of the gun it has no chips,splits,or breaks in the stock or forearm. still has origional blueing.

    Sincere Thanks to Henry, Savage, Barzillia and cer. Cutting it would make me feel I was dishonoring it like a crackpunk (just trying to give it more functional life). I was encouraged by Henry showing me good recent sales. Further info: On the bolt it says "The Sportsman". The SN is on the left side of the receiver just under "Remington" and a stamped duck (phesant on flip side). This forum thing is awsome. Talk about tapping knowledge instantly. Thanks again for giving it and your time. Tom

    The Sportsman was a three shot version of the Model 11 yet Remington named it Sportsman, not a Model 11 Sportsman. So you don't actually have a model 11. Since the date code is on the barrel there is a chance that the barrel came from a shotgun other than on your gun. I believe the barrels had the shotgun serial number stamped on it. If the numbers match then you know for sure that your Remington Sportsman was made in 1946.

    Thanks Herschel. The SNs match and your info about a 3 shot model was very timely as I was about to try to remove the "plug" in the magazine that my Dad told me was required by hunting with guns that only had 3 shots. Tom
