Unidentified sword

This sword is stamped "COLLINS & CO HARTFORD, CT"

I am aware this was a smaller manufacturer of swords and other products for the government during the Civil War. I cannot match this sword to any images I have seen. All similar swords seem to have different hilts. Any idea what this sword is?

    Straight blade indicates infantry - from the plain hilt and pommel - probably an Infantry NCO dress sword.

    If it has a 26" blade, it's a Model 1840 NCO sword. If the blade is shorter, it's a Musician's sword.

    I saw another sword similar to this labeled as a USMC noncom sword from the Civil War. Is that possible?
