    if the slug is in a plastic sabot, I wouldn't worry about the barrel. the plastic will deform before the steel barrell. accuracy will be affected more than the barrel. I tried a few of those in a model 500 I have put rifle sights on for my grandson, they shot a few inches lower but at 50 yards would still kill a deer.

    A fellow gave me 3 boxes of slugs and a box and half of buckshot of the russian brand because he couldn't get his shotgun to fire them. he had an old H&R that had a weak trigger spring, my mossburg fired every time. I think the russian primer are a little harder if your savage still has a good tight triger you should have no problem.
