color case hardning; source?

I have several 'builds' going on right now and need to get some actions color case hardened. I used to use a shop near Madison Wis. called Sefranski's (sp ?) but my contact info is out of date. Anyone have current info or a different shop (reasonably $$$, [:D]).
edit "What gun are you restoring?"........2 large action martini's (.38/55 & .50/90 sharps) and a rem. #1 rolling block (.444 marlin).

    Hello MW,

    Hope all finds you well out there. There is a local shop here near Rochester, NY that does excellent work, but they are internationally famous too. They are a bit spendy, but their work is second to none. That would be Turnbull.

    Try contacting Fred Heinzelman & Sons (Heinzelman Heat Treating, LLC). 201-933-4800

    At the time I had them do CC for me they didn't do any metal prep, so all of the polish may still need to be done when they receive it.

    When I spoke with Fred on the phone he offered combinations of straw on straw, blues on straw, straw on blues and hues of blue with minimal straw.

    IIRC it ran me $95 to have a complete Mauser done, from scope rings to floor plate.

    Obviously this is just my opinion, but while Turnbull does outstanding, probably second to none case hardening; his work tends to over exaggerate the colors and patterns and just doesn't look factory on Winchesters and Colts. However, if you are just going for great colors and not the original factory look, then spend the money on a Turnbull job.

    Malcolm Clark & Son, Gunsmiths are who I'm using for a Steven M44 that I am restoring. They do bone style color case hardening, are into old single shot rifles and are IMO reasonably priced. They are doing the receiver on the M44 for $165 + shipping. Located at 221 E.H. Clochester Tpke, East Haddam, CT. 06423, (860)873-9639.

    I agree with Old-Colts, too, and I would add that Turnbull's case colored patterns come closer to matching those of Winchester than any other such specialist to my knowledge.

    I don't believe that is what Old-Colts just said. In fact I do agree with O-C, that Doug's colors are too bright for authentic Winchester's and Colt's, and I am reasonably sure another Winchester Expert on her would also. However, for a project, that is not intended to be a 100% restoration, but a working piece of art, then Turnbull is the man. As I have stated before, he is local here...within 25 miles or so. I have been to his shop/store...I almost need a bib to wear when i go in there. I am having them do the frame on a 50 year Ruger Blackhawk Flattop. I will post photo's of before and after.
