    I don't doubt it, but this does limit you a bit as to effective range.

    Once you get out past 75-100 yards .22LR drops pretty fast and you also lose quite a bit of power.

    Even if you don't think you're likely to take a shot out further than that, its still nice to know you COULD do so, if the opportunity presented itself.

    If you want to go rimfire, I think one of the magnum rounds (.22 or .17) is probably better.

    Personally, I think .223 is just about tailor-made for coyote hunting, and given the ready availability of guns and ammo, I'd look there first.
