Is it okay to put hoppes 9 lubricant (in the little orange bottle) on wood, Laminate and walnut, it says it cleans wood work, but would it hurt to put it on the wood, not too much, just enough?

    I have been around and used guns all my life, and I hate to seem like a total dummy, but I have never understood the difference in "striker fired" and "hammer fired" pistols. Could someone offer a simple explanation?

    Check out the actual selling prices for CZ 75's on the on-line auctions.

    Personally I would hold on to the CZ if you have owned it for 20+ years. The Sig is a excellent pistol, but IMHO a older CZ is a better pistol, all things considered.

    Yup. Your gun was made in 1986. By any chance did you acquire it in overseas military service in Germany?

    Here's mine, after modification by the Frankonia company in Germany (note bobbed hammer and added grip checkering). Off the top of my head I think it was made in 1984 (though I'd have to check again).

    Note that the older "pre-B" CZ-75 pistols have spur (not ring) hammers and rounded (not squared off) triggerguards. They also lack the internal firing pin block safeties that the current CZ-75B guns have, and therefore have slightly better trigger pulls:

    Of course your gun has "value". Pre-B CZ-75s like this are worth somewhere around $500, give or take, depending on condition, accessories, etc.

    Whether or not you "should" trade this for a SIG is subjective, and up to you.

    Personally, I prefer my CZ-75 over a SIG, and I wouldn't trade it, even if the SIG were nominally worth a little more money. (In fact this pre-B is my favorite "service" type pistol, period). I find the CZ-75 has a more comfortable and more naturally pointable grip, plus a better double-action trigger pull. Its slightly slimmer and offers the ability to go "cocked and locked".
