cowboy 22 revolver

i got a cowboy 22 fie miami fla revolver over the weekend and one the cylinder it says 22 mag but the 22 mags wont fit in it but the 22lgwill but if i shoot it its hard to get the shells out

    won't fit at all,or go in most but not all the way?
    if the latter,clean the heck out of it with a good brush,may have a 'crud ring' like u get when shooting a lot of .38's in a .357 revolver.
    If won't even beging to go in, I dunno.

    Hello, and welcome to the forums here on GunBroker.com.

    About your revolver. The problem you are having, has to do with the quality of the manufacture of it. The FIE/IS company was an importer. They just stamped their name on stuff they imported. I believe your revolver's cylinder was mismarked, either by accident, or possibly intentionally.

    "I believe your revolver's cylinder was mismarked,"............or the revolver was 'dry fired' and the chambers on the mag. cylinder are 'dinged'. I've seen this a lot with these cheaply made revolvers.

    I seriously doubt that anyone intentionally mismarked the revolver cylinder. More like as others have said, it is dirty, or the rim is burred from dry firing.

    Give it a good cleaning with bronze brush and #9 solvent...

    After firing give brass a few moments to cool and contract B4 extracting.

    i can look on the cylinder and see where they dry fired it is there any way i could get a cylinder for 22 mag and 22 long

    The "burrs" can be ironed back to original location - a "good" gunsmith should be able to do it for far less than the cost of a new cylinder.

    If you are patient and good with a small file, hand fit and polish the pieces. Give it a good cleaning and slowly work on it. You may be able to salvage what you have. I wouldn't stick a dime into the gun and shoot it as is.

    Might be the "Texas Ranger"; 22lr only, or including an interchangeable 22mag cylinder; sixty bucks-ish 25 years ago for the .22lr only (see description on box end below).
