Can I use a 308 T/C Venture magazine in my 22-250

I reload and like to set bullets (if they can be) close to the rifling, but with my new T/C Venture in 22-250 I can't do this and still use the magazine. I need to know if a magazine for a 22-250 T/C Venture has the same outside dimensions as the magazine for a 308 T/C Venture? I have tried some 308 brass in my 22-250 magazine and it fits with no problems. So I know the 308 magazine would hold the 22-250 rounds with no problems and feed them because the bolt comes back passed the outside of the magazine. The 22-250 magazine seems to have the room to hold the 308 round if the inside dimensions where made for it and without changing the outside dimensions. Since the 308 COL is longer this would allow me to load my 22-250 with the bullets set closer to the rifling and still use the magazine. Any help?

    Just a shot here but have you loaded the mag to capacity then checked to see if it would feed all the rounds OK. Just loading a single round and cycling it might not tell you much. You need to see how the cartridges feed when under pressure in the mag.The 22-250 case has more taper than the 308 and the spring and angle of the feed lips on the 308 mag may prevent the 22-250 cases from orienting properly when stacked.

    Its an interesting question.

    I don't know the answer, but I bet Thompson center's customer support could tell you if the mags you're asking about are the same external dimensions, or if maybe there is some other caliber magazine that could fit that might also serve your purpose.

    But even assuming they were externally identical AND you could load up the .22-250 rounds into a .308 magazine, I'd also be concerned about feeding issues from differences in lip/chamber geometry.
