soften a hard holster
Gentlmen,
I purchased a used holster for a model 28 revolver, it looks like a older police type because it is black and is basket weaved. it is for a 6 inch barrel , and a nice thumb lever to pop the hold down.
how can I soften the holster ?? It is very stiff, or make it easier to draw and insert the revolver??

What I use and have heard others make favorable comments about is Pecards Antique Leather Dressing. It has a consistency similar to paste shoe polish or vaseline. It is to be rubbed in sparingly and allowed to dry with additional coats added when the first has been absorbed. Do not use Neat's Foot Oil. The holster was probably designed to be fairly rigid. 0 -
I have used, quite successfully . mink oil. Rub into the leather gently over a period of a couple of weeks. It can be found easily in the shoe dressing departments of most super markets. It works well on all types of leather goods. 0 -

Definitely Pecard's. I've even used it to bring dry, cracked Civil War leather back to life.
