GSAD value ?

GSAD AK w/spike what I picked up back in the late 80's-90 It didn't come with a box I'd call it a nice shooter I have put about 600-800rds in it over the years .I was looking at AK'S 477 of them and not one GSAD ak? this gun is a low numbers less then 4,500 ser.
How can I find out what to ask for it[?]

    There are so many folks putting together AK's now using imported parts and U.S. made receivers, it's 6 of 1, to half dozen of another, now. Doesn't matter who put it together, Golden State or whoever. Depending on cosmetics/quality of build, IMHO, $300 to $500. Since the receivers are simple U.S. made sheet metal fabrications, the low serial number doesn't mean squat.


    EDIT #1, If it is a original preban dating to late 80's it will be marked with country of origin. Golden State will be the importer. May small outfits tryed to make money by importing Chinese AK's during he mid to late 80's time frame, most went belly up pretty quickly. If it's a original pre ban in VG to Excellent condition, it would be worth at least twice what a current U.S. build will bring.

    well thats not what I wanted to hear but thanks for your in put rufe-snow just my luck / do you think I'd do better to take it to gun shows or sell it on gunbrker?

    rufe the only thing on the side of it is GSAD MANH /then under that BEA..CA then on the bottem of it by the mag well ching 7.62 Jingwan other then no marking of countey of origin

    GSAD is the initials of the importer. Manhattan Beach is a small city in California. It located in Los Angeles county, on the Pacific Ocean, south of the airport.

    If I remember correctly its right next to port of Los Angeles. Right were all the chinese imports come in the country... Coincidence? Hmmmmm

    Some times on the older imports it's stamped in very small inconspicuous letters on the barrel just in back of the front sight.

    GSAD is Golden State Arms Distributors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The shop was just of Pacific Coast Hwy (which is Sepulveda Blvd in the South Bay region) and not far from the Manhattan Beach Pier. In addition to Chinese AKs, GSAD imported millions of rounds of surplus ammo, as well as a large nub er of surplus military firearms. they also imported a fair number of SIG handguns "unofficially" at prices well under SIGARMS. GSAD went out of business a good 20 years ago but there are still plenty of firearms in circulation bearing their import marking. Remember that back in those free and easy days it was not too difficult to make a deal with the ChiComs on a load of AKs, have them imported into San Pedro and then after your name was stamped on them just run an add in Shotgun News and wait for the orders and then for the money to start pouring in.
