Springfield 1911A1 G.I.
My new gift has low military sights. Rear has small dovetail, and front is staked. Could someone suggest elevation aadjustable rear sights that will fit the small dovetail, and a better fornt sight that can be staked on. Preferably a "glow" bead.

I don't know of a stake on fibre optic sight for the odd Springfield mortise. All I know to do is to file or mill a sight made for the wide late model Colt to fit. Or pay to have a front dovetail cut.
The closest thing I can find is

Is this a Military pistol made before 1953[?] If so I would sell the pistol and not destroy the value. It would bring enough to buy a modern 1911A1 Clone with adjustable sights installed. . If this however is a Springfield INC located in GENESEO IL then look at Brownells and ask their tech department. 0 -
The original Springfield Armory made pistols, from the pre W W I era, were in the 1911 configuration. If it's a 1911A1, it's probably one of the recent Brazilian made pistols. 0
