I have just acquired this rifle and was wondering if anyone had any comments or feedback?

Your Winchester is very collectible to one degree or the other due to its rarity and condition. Should you desire an appraisal as to its range of value, follow the guidelines in the sticky "Posting Photographs," and include comments having to do with the condition of the action, bore, markings, and such, then wait for any response to come in.

I've got one, they are a model 99. Prices can range from $100 up to $2000. Winchester made over 75,000 of these rifles, theres a couple of them up for auction on Gunbroker.

There is a superbly written and illustrated piece in Chapter 5 of Herbert G. Houze's book "To The Dreams of Youth, WINCHESTER .22 Caliber Single Shot Rifle" that details the entire history of the Thumb Trigger Model (called the Model 99 in the years 1919 - 1923).

In a nutshell, the Thumb Trigger Model made its official debut in the June 1904 catalog, with the first batch of rifles delivered to warehouse stock on July 5th, 1904. It was discontinued in May of 1923, with total sales of 75,933 rifles.
