Ambush
I was researching the national archives and found this ambush report. I was one of the guys who survived this. It does not say, but we killed about 20 enemy during this contact.

NEWS RELEASE.
M.A.C.V. COMMUNIQUE.
In II CORP yesterday afternoon, a mechanized infantry convoy from an
element of the 2nd Brigade, US 4th Infantry Division, was ambushed by an
unknown size enemy force in an area two miles northwest of Plei Mrong,
in Pleiku - Kontum Province. Convoy security elements returned the
heavy enemy fire while US Army helicopter gunships and artillery
supported the action. During the action, a US Army UH-1 helicopter was
hit by enemy ground fire and crashed in the area wounding all five
persons aboard. The aircraft was destroyed. US causalities were 10
killed and 18 wounded. Material damage was light.???????????????

I was in Kontum with the 2/1 Armored Cav when that happened. We came back toward Pleiku 2 days later.
Lefty, I told you we where in the same place at the same time.

I was just south-east of there, at Tuy Hoa. on that day.

Yes, we were. Maybe we even ran into each other..... who knows. During that ambush I went thru about 300 rounds from my .50 cal and 25 20rd mags in my M-16. I was scared crapless. As I type this I have tears in my eyes for the 10 we lost.0 -
I was never in Vietnam but I come here if I ever have a question about the Vietnam war and you usually answer my questions most of the time you guys know after all you were there.
