Does anyone have any idea what a Browning M4 1919 .30 decomissioned gun is worth?

Is it something that will go up in value over time?

    Do you mean 1919 A4 ? The .30 cal belt fed, looks like this.

    It comes with an ammo can and I assume fake ammo.

    We do not know what "decomissioned" means. We know what it means with naval vessels, but not firearms.

    It means it will not shoot---it has been deactivated somehow.

    A de-activated 1919 could probably bring up to $500. If your planning to buy one just make sure it is de-activated per ATF requirements. Just plugging the barrel is not enought as the barrels are easily changed on this gun.

    It was just something that was offered to me and I obviously have no idea about it.
    I wasn't sure if it is something that is considered a collectible that would go up in value over time or if it would just be used for parts, or just as a dust collector.

    I have not gone to see it in person and it wouldn't have done me any good since I obviously don't know anything about them. I was just trying to collect some basic opinions and ideas as to if it was even worth the drive or not.

    laredo is right, the parts other than reciever are worth $500+
    building a semi 1919a4 is common and fun

    disregard "bill jordan"

    also i do suspect these will go up in value. it is no longer legal to import the barrels which are one of the expensive parts to produce domestically.

    Also, MY previous post was resolved with the seller,no harm, no foul, and YOU were not involved at all, so lighten up.

    The right sideplate is the only thing that would involve legality to own (I think except in the state of Washington-not sure). Federally, all other parts, except right sideplate are Okay for you 'n me to posess.

    Now, the right sideplate: If you have it in your posession, in order to be legal, it must be torch-cut into three pieces.

    Also, the right sideplate is not a teardown item. It's riveted to the rest of the gun.

    Best if you check and see..maybe you have a 'dummy' right sideplate installed on the MG. Photos would surely help. Joe
