Suppressors

been looking at buying a can for a .22 was wondering if anyone heard of Lauer's custom weaponrey they sell a .22 can called a predetor.Was wondering if anyone has one or heard of them, or what you think

    I'm new to shooting suppressors and was just wondering if i need to stick to a certain caliber or if i could shoot multiple calibers out of one can. I'm thinking about getting a 223 suppressor so i can shoot 223 or 22 ammo through it. I need to know if it will be just as effective with both calibers or if the 223 will be better because thats what the can is made for, although i realize anything supersonic will not be silent.

    It is legal for private individuals to own suppressors in the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin and Wyoming. Owning a suppressor is legal in Missouri, with the condition that the owner must hold a C&R (curio and relic) license.

    HOWEVER, unless you are considering adding a suppressor to a Nagant revolver, save your time. Standard revolvers do not suppress well due to the gap between the cylinder and the forcing cone. Transporting a suppressor across a state line- get BATFE approval. Check your own state laws- some states permit ownership, but not use.

    I believe that your question is, "I live in South Carolina; is it legal to own a handgun with a threaded barrel there?" Is that right? If so, you can find the answer to your question in State Laws and Published Ordinances - Firearms (ATF P5300.5), downloadable from the ATF website.

    Of course, the information posted by 11b6r is absolutely correct, but, you can do what you want.

    You are correct. My question should have been is it legal to own a firearm with a threaded barrel in SC. Revolver was the wrong choice of words as well.

    Yes it is, and you don't need any special license to do it.
