4 "click" trigger

I have a Hawes .44 mag with a "4 click trigger". Would the experts please explain the function and purpose for each of the individual "clicks" and why it was designed in that manner?

    If you are talking about a four click hammer it is something like this.
    First click lifts hammer so that it doesn't rest on the primer.
    Second click allows rotation of the cylinder for loading.
    Third click ??
    Fourth click is full cock.

    Someone else can say what the third click is for and straighten me out on the purpose of the second and third if I have them wrong.

    Herschel is mostly correct First off the hammer has total of three notches the first TWO notches are hook shaped and were fist designed so you could not pull the trigger when in either of these notches . So the first click is to prevent the fireing pin from resting on the primer The second click is when the cylinder lock is pulled down to allow the cylinder to turn to load and unload. the third click is just before the cylinder reaches the locking notch The clinder lock is released and you hear a click as it snaps against the cylinder and the 4th click is when the trigger contacts the full cock notch . Hope this helps the trigger falling into hammer notches makes 3 of the four clicks and the Cylinder bolt snapping against the cylinder is the other Click

    EDITI treat a Firearm just like I treat a car or truck. In other words I feel that it is better to purchase a firearm say in 44 Mag or 357 Mag and then shoot a lower power load in it unless you are hunting or using for defense. The firearm will last longer ." You dont drive your car shifting at the red line each time or using the anti lock brakes each time you stop". Again just like a car why buy standard car and then just put a N.O. package on it and drive it HARD or buy a pistol then insist that just because it does not blow up on the first round of +P+ loads that is what you use for practice. A paper target does not care a Witt if that 44 slug goes through at 1200 FPS or 800 FPS good marksmanship is THE MOST important factor and a light recoiling pistol is more fun to shoot and likely to give you the shooter more accuracy.

    Got it...Thanks, I really learn alot on this forum.

    One more thing if I may...I really like to shoot this revolver but I'm a little concerned that a diet of mag. loads aren't the best for the gun because of the Hawes name instead of Colt or Ruger, and I have been using the 44 special loads. Am I being a little to cautious?

    Just so you know, don't ever carry that thing with a loaded chamber under the hammer, with the hammer back on ANY of the clicks. If dropped, or you fall down, it stands a good potential of breaking that click notch, and firing.

    Thats what I love about this gun...same thing as racking a 12 ga.

    tsr1965...I load 1 in the chamber 1 empty... 4 more in and de-cock so the hammer rests on the empty chamber.
