muzzle brake install...need gunsmith?

    It should accept any 5/8-24 muzzle brake.

    But, I'm not familiar with the JP unit. Does that unit require that it be aligned so that the holes are at TDC?

    I'm not familiar with the Remington rifle your inquiring about. Generally muzzle brakes are attached to the barrels with threads. Male on the barrel and female on the brake. If the rifle doesn't come from the factory threaded, a gunsmith is required to thread the barrel correctly. If the external threads on the barrel aren't cut concentric with the bore, there is always the possibility that the misaligment will cause the bullet to hit the internal portion of the brake with disastrous consequences.

    Yes, it's an issue of timing the brake into alignment.
