sight adjustment question

if im shooting a pistol. and im shooting to the left. should i drifth the front sight to the left or the right? and would that go opposite for the rear sight.

    Chase the bullet holes with the front sight. Drift it to the left.
    Opposite for the rear sight.

    If your shooting to the left your move the front sight to the left and the rear sight to the right.

    F-O-R-S front opposite, rear same. If you want to adjust the sights to hit more to the left, you can move the rear to the left, or the front to the right. Flapjack

    I always get confused, then I use my hands in a front back configuration and simulate the adjustment...no need to be embarassed.

    The correct answer has been given multiple times.

    I'd just add that if you are a relatively new shooter, before you start drifting ANY dovetailed sights anywhere, make sure that its the GUN that's shooting off target, and not you.

    Probably the best way to do this is to give the gun to an experienced shooter, and have them group it for you. If they ALSO get a good tight group to the guns' left, it probably really is the sights.

    Note that if you are right handed but left eye dominant (or vice versa) and you aren't meticulous about how you create your sight picture, that can throw off your groups to one side. Ask me how I know. . .[:(]

    Move the front sight in the opposite direction you want the bullet to strike. If the bullet's point of impact is hitting to the left, then you want the bullet to move to the right...adjusting the sight to the left will get the results you are after. same goes for elevation...to move the bullet up, adjust the front sight down, to lower the bullet strike, move the front site up.

    The rear sight, is just the opposite of that. You have to move the rear sight in the direction you want the bullet to strike. If you are shooting to the left, then move the sight to the right. If you are shooting high, then lower the rear sight.
