i have this knife that was givin to me it looks just like a marine combat thick shinny 7" blade leather handle with marking on blade barly readable RH 36 where from?

  It's possible but it looks more homemade to me. Maybe someone will recognize the logo. What are the dimensions?

  Owner says about 7-8" total. Handle is ivory.
  
  While I agree, it's not production, but the handle leads me to believe it may have some military provenance. The owner's father was a WWII vet and he has inherited it. Factory made, modified by the owner, or homemade? That's my bet.

  May be a theatre knife, one made by a US service man. I've got two of them, one made by my father and the other by uncle.
