Winchester 1890/90 question
I recently acquired a Win. model 90. The inner and outer mag tube both needed to be replaced (they were both bent). I found (seperately) both pieces that I needed to get the gun back into working order. However, after closer inspection the outer mag tube had an additional ring mark and a second notch cut 2 13/16" forward of where it would normally be for the lower mag tube ring for a model 90. The original mag tube does not have this other notch. Is this a mag tube that has been fit from a 60 or 61?? It seems to be of the correct length, if I installed it would it affect the value much. Thanks.

Todd,
I do not know the specific answer to your question, other than I am fairly certain that the outer tube you bought is not correct for a Model 90.0 -
Hi,
Octagon barrel 1890's & 61's have the rear band location 2.75" further back than round barrel 1890's, 61's, and 62's. Your tube has been installed on (2) different rifles. I have never seen one factory cut for both. Yours has been modified outside the factory.
