Rem 1100

I have a Rem mod 1100,sn# 502013V.4 barrels,skeet,imp,mod,full."AA" grade wood,fleur-de-lis checkerihg. It is marked SKEET on the right side of the receiver.The Remington historian says they only made the SKEET in 20 Ga.! Any thoughts as to rarity or value? This gun is at least 90% condition.
Any help would be appreciated.

    I recently acquried my first gas gun, a Rem. 1100 Trap. I decided to replace the springs, piston and seals. My question is, the replcement gas piston does not have a notch cut in the edge like the original, does this matter? The package it came in states that it is for an 1100 or 11-87. Thanks in advance.DB

    Without photos, we really don't have a clue as to what you have; we certainly can't estimate the value.

    What makes you say that the wood is "AA"?

    Al, my experience with the Remington "historians" is, they can tell you a fairly accurate date of manufacture, and possibly what they had for dinner last night.
    I have a 21" Skeet barrel for my 1100 20ga STD frame, that was clearly made by Remington, with that choke and bbl length, and I had 3 different "historians" claim that Remington never made this barrel in that length.
    With the grade of wood, and if all 4 barrel codes are the same, and date within a year or two of the receiver serial # DOM, I would say it was a special order gun.

    I had an 1100 SkeetB in 12 gauge. It would have been in the late 70s, but had only one barrel with it.

    Back in the late 70's I had an FFL and sold two of them. They were both marked Skeet B on the receiver and skeet on the VR bbl. 12ga. Remingon also made a Trap counterpart. The guns were normal 1100's but the wood was much nicer. If you wanted a different choke bbl you could simply buy another bbl.since they had not come out with choke tubes at the time. The skeet guns had a lower comb for that game and the trap had a higher comb for trap shooting. Also around that time Remington manf. a 30" VR bbl with a step up rib. Sold one a few years back for $200. Resale = condition/demand. Guess? $1000 +/-with all the bbls.
