It must have been dropped. See where the barrel does not fit the receiver?

From the engraving it looks like one of the inexpensive imports to me. As long as it locks up tight, I wouldn't sweat it myself. Putting any amount of money in it would be a waste IMHO, you'll never be able to recover it, if you decide to sell.

The metal can be carefully moved back into position by a good gunsmith.

Agreed.
A careful man with a soft hammer can level that back out.
Don't whack it with your Stanley claw hammer, though.
