M1A stock oil

I recently bought an M1A and was reading through the manual where it said to use either Tung Oil or Lindseed Oil on the walnut stock once a year. Any opinions out there as to which is better?

  Tung oil is closest to the finish that the US military used most recently (before plastic guns).
  
  However, you really don't need to apply oil to your wood---ever. The most important thing is to store it where the relative humidity stays in the 30-50% range. If your home has forced hot air heat without a humidifier, the humidity could be close to 0% in the winter months, & all wood will eventually be ruined.
