Is it possible to use 4 mag.cartridges in a 444 Marlin rifle?

    They are not even close to being the same round, and I'm pretty sure a 44mag in there, if you could get it to fire, would ameliorate itself and weld things to the 444 chamber walls, ruining the gun.

    EDIT 1: Really bad choice of words...ameliorate is obviously
    NOT the word I should have gone for there![:I][:I] At least I spelled it correctly! Yipee! Hope the point still gets across though; it isn't going to do the gun any good and will likely destroy the brass. Thats a long jump to the rifling too. As mentioned feeding would be a real issue I believe as most of the 444's are Marlin lever guns. My little 38/357 lever gun handles both with fair alacrity but I'm not so sure about the 44 mag and 444 doing that so readily.

    I've seen a .44 mag fire in a .45 colt.. thank god it was a Ruger or the shooter would've been hurt, and they're a bit more off in the case diamter area.

    The dimensions are close enough to possibly let it fire, especially since it headspaces on the rim.
    .44 Mag (outside diameters) = .514 at rim, .457 at base of cartridge, .456 at case mouth. Case length is 1.825
    .444 mar (OD as well) .514 at rim, .469 at base of cartridge, .454 at case mouth. Case length is 2.225

    IF it fired, and that's an IF that I would never try 'cause the cases wouls probably split at or near the base, it would be the worlds worst Special/magnum type of relationship. I see lousy feeding, bad accuracy, and ruined actions if this happened.
