Mine runs great with 230 ball, doesn't miss a beat and as you said, the out of the box accuracy is great. Ramp and magazines I know were problems at one time with the 97B. One of my brothers is a limpwrist queen and he jams all my 45's. I run mine on the "wet" side and load to 8 or 9, rarely run a full mag. Mags sometimes need an extra hard slap to latch in correct, loading less than 10 helps big time especially if slide is forward. I polished my ramp with emery paper and scotchbrite pad under a 3/8 wooden dowel, installed a solid guide rod and filed the right front corner of the trigger, once rounded it felt much much better. Keep running that 97, maybe it needs more break in time.

I've had one for at least 10 years and it is 100% reliable with ball and the brand JHPs I keep for home defense - Remington Golden Saber and Hornady.

Hopefully to get it out of the way, any chance the shooter is victim to "limp wristing" the pistol? Have others shot it with the same result?

Maybe there's an extractor problem or recoil spring problem - new gun or old?

    Thanks for the thoughts men,

My brother is a professional rifleman, All-Guard, Shot 4 years Collegiate, as well as state and local teams..Not a newbie for sure..

The 97 was bought new, dated '03 I think. Always had this problem, both when he and I shot it...

Any other thoughts? Perhaps just a bad gun???

quote:We've sent it back to CZ, again and the head Armourer called and said "We cant find a problem, we fired 50rds and it only jammed once"

So a 2% failure rate is ok with the "head Armourer?"
    Not with me.
I'd go up the chain of command and get somebody who could make it right.
If they won't, the choice would be to shelve it and take the loss or try a real gunsmith like Angus Hobdell or Matthew Mink.
