I have a H&R 922 model in fair condition (white, marble-ized, plastic grips) with the serial number N49441. Would anyone tell me the approximate value and about when the gun was made? Thanks for you help.

It's a 2nd Model, made in 1953 ('N' prefix in s/n). It is the first year of production of the 2nd Model (1953 - 72). The Model 922 was first made circa 1925-26 and went through a number of variations (about 8) from then until 1952 - when the frame configuration was changed to a more "modern" style. What you have is that more "modern style" frame with a square butt or rounded butt on the 2.5" barrel - which takes 2 piece plastic (nylon) grip panels. Earlier 1st Model pieces had a curved or bird's head shaped grip frame that took a one piece grip.
Not much else to tell, except they were one of the most popular sellers for H&R and that's why they lasted so long in production. They were intended to be strong, simple and low cost (that sounds abit like one of the girls I used to date...)
