Colt 1st Issue Detective Special
Can anyone help me on this issue?
I have purchased a Colt Detective Special 1st Issue at a local sporting goods and gun shop. Thing is, we cannot find a serial number on the firearm, or maybe we just don't know where to look!
Does anmyone out there know if it is true that a serial number did not exist on onsome of the first models?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

If their isn't a serial number on the base of the grip, or inside the receiver in the crane area when you open the cylinder? Take it back to where you bought it, and get your money back. Don't buy anybodies malarkey that early Colt Detective Specials didn't have serial numbers. The early Detective Specials were just the Police Positive Models with shortened barrels. 0 -
BINGO! Rufe is right on it again. Colts was proud of their handiwork and serialized all I have ever seen. 0
