I am interested in buying a scope for my Springfield M1A.Springfield sells a goverment model scope ( I can't recall off hand the specifics of the scope) for the M1A, but it seems a bit pricey at over $500.Any recomendations on a good affordable(under $200) scope for this rifle? Shooting would be at 100-300 yards. Thanks in advance.

The third or fourth gen. Springfield mounts are good. Sadlack is most likley the best.
There was a post about M1A mounts a few days ago. Do a search for it.

I have one of the Sprngfield scopes and it is OK. I think the reticle is too small.

Springfield Inc has bought scopes from several sources; many were bad. No way to tell from markings which are good, & which are bad.

ARMS mounts are good for the M1A.

Well the search feature would have turned up this very recent topic on mounts, http://forums.gunbroker.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=499224

As for the scope the one I HAD was decent but not a $350 scope IMHO. Now at $200 or under sure. Like the others have said there were some bad SA scopes out there and no way to tell what ones they were.
