Colt 1911 without original slide
Ran across a 45 government model 1911, but the slide had been replaced with a Ithaca version. Knowing very little on pistol values I didn't pop on it and am already regretting it. How would you go about valueing this. Overall I would have rated it at 65-70%.

There are Two types of 45 ACP semi Auto Pistols. #1 model 1911. #2 is model 1911A1. colt made Both models Ithaca only made 1911A1's there were a number of makers for the 1911 and a larger number of makers for the 1911A1. The nice thing is you have only one set of serial numbers and each maker was given a BLOCK of numbers . An all correct pistol one that has the slide and frame made by same maker with all correct parts will bring more then a pistol with a 1911 frame and 1911A1 slide ETC ETC. with detail pictures you will let us tell you if we see any mismatch of parts. 0 -
Ok that makes it more understandable to me. The frame had nothing on it telling me it was made by Colt as the guy said, the slide however was stamped by Ithaca. No pictures to supply because I passed on the buy.
If the frame had been made by colt and slide by ithaca would it have been worth $575?
Thanks perry shooter!0 -

To many variables to give you a correct answer. We at least need to know who made the frame, and if the finish/cosmetics are descent. It might be a reblued, post W W II, aftermarket frame for all we know. Even with a original Colt frame, 65/70% @ $575 would questionable, IMHO.
You can buy the PI made .45's new for under $500 nowadays, if your just in the market for a shooter.
Unless you have a good handle on condition and originality as far as the various W W II 1911A1 variations are concerned, it real easy winding up getting hosed, if you don't know what you are doing.0
