jm scotts shotgun
i have a old double barrel shotgun with the followinf info on it J M SCOTTS, ST LOUIS MODEL, 1887, LONDON STUE TWIST, ANY INFO WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL its in fair condition all original parts.. the forarm stock is cracked but besides that in good condition.. and any idea on value would be helpful. thanks

I have several listings for shotguns with some form of the name SCOTT including I.A. Scott (Belgian), J.N. Scott'S FINE DAMASCUS STEEL (Belgian), J.N. SCOTT ST. LOUIS CLUB (English). J.W. SCOTT(Belgian) and SCOTT-BELGIAN FINE DAMASCUS (also Belgian) but no J.M. Scott's ST. LOUIS MODEL 1887 LONDON STUE ( I suspect that's STUB) TWIST. However that is no surprise since so many different names were used and not all of them were recorded. I also suspect that your gun was made in Belgium. Please take a look at the bottom of the barrels under the forearm for any proof marks. Belgian made guns will have the letters "ELG" in an oval with a crown on top stamped there while English made guns will have crossed scepters or halberds (spear/battle-axe) with a crown over that and letters in the intersections.
