What is it called?

I recently purchased a Krag Rifle that had iron sights,The interesting thing is that the rear sight had a adapter that is a ring with a dovetail cut in it with a set screw underneath so a Winchester type sight could be installed and not have to cut a dovetail into the barrel.
does anyone know what this is called and if they still make them?
