locked topic

I submitted a post that I was getting some great dialogue and info from then all of a sudden it became locked and the ability to interact was lost. I'm not sure where all the lines are, but it seemed like everybody was within them.

I'm new so could someone shed some light on why a topic might become locked?

    what causes a topic to be locked? Not covered by posting guidelines.

    In the "Experts" forum threads are generally locked about the 10th response under the theory that's sufficient time to get an answer. Keeps things moving along.

    On ask the experts, topics are locked after 10 posts.Just use the same heading and add part 2.
