S & W 1000 part 2
Well i ended up buying the shotgun... i got it for 275 which i think was agood deal... I took it out this weekend and shot some clays with it and it worked great except that a couple of times it didnt reload the shell out of the mag properly... it seemed as if it didnt lift it high enough to go strait into the chamber...it didnt jam per say because all id have to do is pull the bolt back and when i let it go the shell would go on in. I put close to 100 rounds of low brass (3 dram #8)winchester super speeds through it and it only did this probably 2 or 3 times. My question is what do you think is causing this and if the shotshell i used may be the problem? thanks for everyones help in advance this is a great forum !

I would first give it a good cleaning and try a different type of ammo. If it still has problems refer back to your previous post where the problem with the "O" rings/seals was discussed. Replace them if possible, and hope that makes the shotgun more reliable. 0 -
thanks...i had agunsmith check it out...he cleaned and polished the gas system and he said the o ring was fine for now but to keep acheck on it 0 -
Dont think i specified but it was cleaned before i shot it... just wasnt sure if there was somethin else that was causing this...thanks 0 -
I never had that problem with mine but it may just be the light loads and/or needing a little break-in. Always quite happy with my S&Ws light weight and that beautiful finish on the stock and receiver is still almost like new. 0 -
i agree it is a beautiful gun.. and i like it alot just a lil concerned about this problem 0 -
Ammo,,,switch it. There is imo so much non quality control on ammo that one batch may be good and another not..I can't tell you how many times while shooting name brand 22 ammo that the "old" pufff came out of the low charge round...Sure 12 guage is also. 0 -
think i will try at least three and a quarter dram and a better quality shell the next time...mabe that will help 0 -

Walmart Winchester, Fiocchi, and Remington bulk packed ammo is anemic. Un-burned/half burned powder, and plastic shavings may be hanging up the shell lifter. If it cycles fine manually, it's the ammo. Get some good ammo!0 -
That must be it because it does fine manualy... and majority of the time while shooting. Walmart is where i got the ammo so that eases my mind. thank you! one other ? ... are rio shells any good? 0 -
Never hear of em, but after going over their website, it looks better than that bulk pack stuff.
