Nimrod - Suhl Drilling Help

I apologize PROFOUNDLY for the childlike handwriting. My camera stinks and I didn't there to be confusion in my questions nor did I know how to do it any other way. I am wondering what the markings in my pictures mean. Many of the proof marks I know but some I do not. I'm trying to figure out the calibers, year made, who made it, where it was made.

1) Does the 8,7 mm mean it was 8.7 mm rifle?
2) I know 16 in a circle means 16 gauge but what does the stand-alone 16 under that mean?
3) 37584 show up several places so I'm convinced that's the serial number but what does this 5806 mean? Have something to do with dating it?
4) How about the 74 1/2 (I think it's a 1/2)?
5) How about the 13 gr?
6) How about the inverted B's?
7) How about the H.S?
8) How about the "BAILDON SPECIAL"?
9) The rifle barrel doesn't go to the end of the shotgun barrels. Is this known to happen sometimes or has this probably been cut down?
10) How about the KMG?

Any help you can give, would be greatly appreciated!!!

    My guess is that the rifle cartridge it was originally chambered for was the 9 X 70 Rimmed. 13 Grams was the weight of the bullet, about 200+/- 10 grains,."KMG" denotes that the bullet was copper jacketed.

    "Baildon Special", was the type of Steel used for the barrels.

    Thieme & Schlegelmilch, were the manufacturers located in Suhl Germany. Nimrod Gewehrfabrik, was the Trade Name used by the above manufacturer.

    Since Bubba has had his way with the rifle, cutting off the barrel for whatever reason? Unfortunately it doesn't have much in the way of value, that I can see.

Unfortunately it doesn't have much in the way of value, that I can see."..........Rufe, not trying to start an argument here but I cann't see were the rifle barrel or side ribs were ever attached to the shotgun barrels, also the side ribs of the rifle barrel are filled in (properly) with solder.

    I understand where your coming from, but I have never seen a kraut drilling with a rifle barrel shorter then the shotgun barrels. Granted many drillings were custom made, and the gunsmiths would have gladly have made something like this if the customer had ordered and payed for it up front. But it just doesn't make logical sense to have the rifle barrel so much shorter then the shotgun barrels.

    I believe the rifle barrel was fired with a obstruction in the bore that caused it's muzzle portion to self-destruct. This is how it was repaired to make it functional. Because of the way it has been repaired with care as you have noted, it might have been done in Germany not by some shade tree bubba gunsmith in the States.

    Not to add to the argument, but I collect Drillings and have two with the rifle barels shorter than the shotgun barrels.

    Please post photos, I've never seen one previous to the one shown in this thread. Very interesting subject! Always something new under the sun, as they say. What do you believe the purpose of the shorter rifle barrel is? Other then then the difference in weight and balance, it would obviously affect.
