This pistol is well within the serial number range on all three part different serial numbers that it COULD be one of the pistols rebuilt by Colt. A letter will prove this as Colt will have a record of the FRAME serial number if they did the work. . It looks like someone used steel wool not too long ago to clean , This is a BIG no no.ONLY Use kroil and burlap as the best thing to remove grime and rust but not remove patina. I can not over stress the point that improper cleaning is MUCH worst then just leaving the pistol alone. . Your pistols are over 125 years old be like a doctor "FIRST DO NO HARM" Second get letters from Colt.

? - Where is the 3rd serial number, on bottom of grip strap? All I see on image 703 is what looks like an A or V.

Caution!! My computer just told me it was infected with over 200 trojans after I selected one of the photos in the link! Proceed with caution!

Either the OP is unknowingly transmitting trojans/virouses from his computer, or the Imageshack link provided is infected. Best, Joe

Edit: To Old-Colts..Yeh. I thought it was an Imageshack quirk, but I wasn't sure. As computers are pure Eff'n magic to me, and are in consort with satan's little elves, I don't need the grief.

To all..try your darndest to get the photos over to Gunbroker, not just the link. There will be nothing for us to have to open, and the photos will go through the forums filters. Win-win situation all around. Best, Joe

Joe, several of us have gotten that Pop-up warning and scan; I closed everything out immediately. I think it might be a BS scan, to what end I'm not sure, my computer didn't get infected, but I won't try it again!

I have gotten that fake virus warning scam/spam/hoax/virus from imageshack links, too. So far my anti-virus has prevented trouble. So far.

thanks everyone!John, if you are serious about taking that action and weren't being sarcastic about some of our, perhaps my, responses you'd be making a big mistake. Yes, the gun I critiqued had problems, but they are worth more than what you'd get from a pawn shop.

I know you didn't cause the problems with Imageshack that we experienced, but it does make some of us reluctant to go to that site. If you would link the images to display in your threads it would be much better for us and we will certainly try to give you the best and honest answers that we can, good and bad.
