I have a good lead on a Remington rollingblock rifle in 43 Spanish. The seller has NO ammo for it but he tells me that brass can be made from 45-70 caseings. Is this possible and can any one give a mild loadin for this cal.??

CAUTION I do not have one but I did a little reading for you.

.43 Spanish has substantially larger head diameter than .45-70 and I would not try it.
Cases can be improvised from .348 Win.
I would try Buffalo Arms with first choice the Jamison .43 Spanish, second choice either the ones BA reforms themselves or maybe Bertram.

You will need dies. Not too bad, even Lee makes the caliber.

Then you need bullets, if you don't cast, BA has those, too.

There is a good discussion at:

Note the possibility of a .43 Spanish Reformado (with the infamous "poison bullet") versus a regular .43 Spanish.

EITHER MIDWAY OR GRAFS HAVE CORRECT BRASS FOR THE .43 SPANISH, PROBABLY BULLETS TOO. LEE MAKES DIES FOR IT ALSO

Thanks for the replies and info. I already have a set of dies for the 43. Of course it all depend if the remington is in shootable condition or not it might just end up as a wall hanger! Again THANKS!![:)]

I think I have 4 or 5 boxes of 43 spanish brass around here somewhere (NIB). I'll look and get back to you. I know I have some basic stuff here too
