tru oil
Has anyone used the bulk Tru Oil in a HVLP for finishing stocks? I like the product, but not the application methods. Hand rubbed usually leaves marks in the finish. Spray cans seem to be better, but do not cover/overlap very well. I may very well give it a try tomorrow, depending on responses here. THX HAWKSHAW

I am trying to refinish a set of wood grips for a Colt Scout and on the edges they have a very tight grain. Sides of grips finish very good but the edges do not take the tru-oil very good and are still a very light color. I have tried thinning the tru-oil with some mineral sprits and have put 2 coats on but they still do not look like they will ever get very dark. Anyone have any suggestios?

Tru oil doesn't have any stain in it. It's possible the edges of the grips still have some original finish on them and is keeping the Tru oil fron penetrating into the bare wood. 0 -
No they did not have any finish left on them, they were being fitted to a new gun and were sanded off about 1/32 inch on the edge. Its just where the grain is running along the edge of the grip is where they will not get dark. 0
