10/22 undertaking
So I've recently bought a springfield xdm as a start to this hobby. i have a ruger 10/22 as well. i've been having it a while and now i was to customize it to look kind of like a springfield m21. I'm gonna keep the standard wood stock, put a muzzle break on and a bipod,just to make it look like an american sniper rifle. my question is about the accessories on the springfield armory website. iust wondering if those items, specifically the cheek piece,bipod , the match sight piece, and muzzle brake. im thinking probably nor the muzzle brake, but the match sights would be cool think. would this be something a gunsmith can do for me? i know it seems like a waste of money, but i like the cheap .22 ammo and love the m21 design. any additional customization advice?

It will be a cost prohibitive project to make it exactly the same unless you are doing all the work yourself. It wont just be expensive it will be crazy expensive. You can make one look pretty close though for a couple hundred bucks though.
The bipod is a Harris. You can get some slip on muzzle brakes that look similar to those. Get a set of Tech Sights. The cheek piece is part of the stock and not an accessory. I believe I have seen a company that makes ones that you can fit to your stock. I cant find that info right now though.0 -
You might be better off financially with an Archangel kit for your 10-22. I have one that I won at a match and put on one of my 10-22's with a beat up stock.
With this kit, you can do all the installing yourself ( its easy)and it makes your 10-22 look like an AR-15 complete with a bayonet and telescoping stock.0 -

Cheek piece is built into the sniper stock. I doubt that you are going to find a similar looking aftermarket 10-22 stock anywhere. Having one custom made is probably cost prohibitive, though if you're a very skilled woodworker, you could probably rig up something yourself.
As mentioned, bipod is a Harris, though for a 10-22 you could go with a low-end Harris knockoff for $50 or less. They have them at Walmart, actually.
10-22 receiver is already drilled/tapped for a scope rail, so putting one on (with any scope you like) should be trivial.
Muzzle brake/flash hider, well, on a .22LR you could use any muzzle brake for any AR-15 type gun in .223, and that's the route I'd explore if I were you. There are plenty of them to choose from, and some of them aren't even particularly expensive. For example a stock M4/M16 A2 type hider can be had for under $10. There are some decent looking designs out there for $30 or less.
You have to figure it will run you about $50 to have your barrel professionally threaded for a proper flash hider mount. If there isn't a gunsmith near you who can do it, there are several outfits that can do it on a barrel you send them, and fortunately for you, taking off a 10-22 barrel is nearly as easy as it gets in a rifle.
While you're "there", IIWY, if you're already going to be threading a barrel, I'd think about a suppressor as a more interesting accessory than a purely cosmetic flash hider in a .22 rifle
As mentioned, "Tech Sights" are the way to go for top end adjustable military type peep sights for your 10-22. With those available at a reasonable price, I wouldn't try to modify different sights from a different gun to drop into your 10-22.
In terms of other customization advice, IMO you'd be silly to spend your time and money upgrading the gun to look like a sniper rifle without addressing the TRIGGER! A match-grade trigger is probably the best single thing you can do to improve your guns accuracy in terms of bang for the buck. I'd suggest the "power custom" drop in kit for about $75, if you can find one.
And lastly, 10-22s are amongst the most popular guns out there to modify, and there are a GAZILLION ways to do it. Good aftermarket parts are available to replace literally any part in the gun (trigger, sights, barrel, stock, even receivers, etc). You can build one into just about anything you like, including replicas of AR-15s, Kalashnikovs, etc. But just because you "can" doesn't mean you "should". I think the best things to do with one of these are put in a good comfortable stock, a nice trigger and *maybe* a bull barrel, and you're good to go!0
