Do you have a Ruger Mini-14 Target rifle?

If so, how accurate is it actually? I know that the general opinion of the Ranch rifle is that it is not accurate.

Some of the ones on the auction site state that it can do 1"MOA. I know that it won't be as good as my Savage 12FV's but I would like to know from those that have shot one.

    You are not going to get 1" MOA out of the box, unless that box contains a rifle other than a Mini-14. My fellow moderator nononsense has probably worked on more Mini-14s than anyone outside of Strum Ruger so hopefully he will pop in with some advice on accurizing the Mini into something...But it won't be something called a target rifle!

    If you want minute of angle accuracy, I think you'll have an easier time getting it from an AR-15 platform gun.

    I'd agree about the above. Using Mini-14 and target rifle as a definition creates an oxymoron. You can construct such a sentence, but there is no such animal that I'm aware of.

    My experience with a Mini is that it will reliably place a round in the head of a coyote at 100 yds. It'll do it dirty or clean, hot or cold, and dry or wet. And you may expect it to fire when you pull the trigger. This is the beauty of a Mini.

    However, if you wish to place a pill in a coyote's ear on a regular basis, then the Mini may not be the best choice. In other words there are different tasks suited to different designs. The Mini is reasonably accurate, very reliable, solid, and is generally unsuited to precision.

    Then again one could almost describe a Jeep the same way and we don't fault then for being what they are.[;)]

    I think he is referring to the Ruger Mini-14 Target rifle.

    I, too, doubt that you will get true "target rifle" results out of it.
