Remington 700 Scope Mounts

Can anyone tell me, for sure, what size the scope mount screws are for a Remington 700? I think they're either 6-48 or 8-40 but I'm not sure which. Thanks.

  Standard is 6-48, my 700 MLR has the larger 8-40, that's the only one I've run across that is different.
