Keep in mind that it's recommended to adjust loads down when speeding up the twist. I've used 60 grainers in my Rem 700 and they shot pretty good. I used 70 grain Speer semisptzers out of a worn Savage 110 and they got under 2" groups with max loads. I think these are 1-12 or 1-14. I have an older custom barrelled Swift that barely handles 55 grainers and I think it's even slower.

A 9 twist in a 22/250 will easily handle bullet weights up to the awesome 75 gr A-Max.....
Run the heavy weight with H-4350............

I'm with JustC, The .22-250 has always been under-twisted due to the mindset it's "a varmint rifle" only. It took years to get the .223 to a tighter twist. Why not the .22-250? So you can shoot heavier bullets.

1-8" will stabilize the best BC bullets in .223 cal. I would say go 1-8" twist too.

+1[:p] Down side, thin jacket varmint bullets watch your fps. They will vaporize coming out the barrel if you run them to to hot.

In a .223 I would say yes, but with the higher velocities of a .22-250, the 9 will easily handle the 60-70 grain pills. Most factory rifles chambered in the .22-250 are 12 or 14's, but them are a crapshoot with anything heavier then 55-60 grains.

I shoot a 220 swift with a 9 twist it handles 80gr bullets just fine.
