    No, it is not correct (or common) for the barrel to be milled for a different length magazine tube... all Model 1890s were made with the same length magazine tube.

    I suspect that your Model 1890 was a standard rifle that was altered to look like a Fancy Sporting Rifle. That said, if you can post a few pictures of it, a more accurate assessment can be provided.

    Edit: It has been pointed put to me that Winchester made at least seven (possibly nine) Model 1890s with an extended 25-round magazine. The odds of finding one of them are extremely slim (.000027% of the first 329,999 Model 1890s made)
