Colt Pythons

what is the going rate for colt pythons? I have 2 that were left to me. They are 90% with just a little bluing rubbed off, having been carried in a police holster. One is a four inch, the other is a two inch. Both have custom pacymer grips, these were working guns. I can supply pictures if need be.

    so i've found a couple pythons that i'd really like to add to my colt collection. however, i dont know a whole lot about them as i'm just starting to collect. the first one i have found is a 1976 python 357 mag with a 6in barrel, polished nickel with the factory wood grips. it is supposedly unfired in the original box. the second is a python target model 38 special with a 8in barrel that is like new in box. this one is blued with the factory wood grips. is either more collectible than the other? either worth more? what are they worth? any help for this beginner is great. thanks

    You can look on the auction side as to what they are bringing.

    Both are good finds if they are as described.

    To me the target .38 will bring more money, they didnt make as many of those. I have one NIB that I have turned down 2000.00 for it.

    The nickel with the box will bring good money with a 6" barrel.

    Jkent......if you can afford them both, and the price is reasonable, and the condition is as you say, go for it and buy them both! You will not regret it as they both will do nothing but appreciate in value. Some guns are always worth more than others, and Pythons are the "pick of the litter" as far as pistols go. They hold their value in down gun markets (like now) and appreciate in good markets (like the future). Value, I would agree that the target .38 might be worth a smidge more than the nickel, but both are valuable. In my area of the world you are looking at somewhere around $3k+ for both. Good luck[^]

    If you can get them for 2,500 or less,,then as a collector,imo, would buy them,,,,rule of thumb,,not overpay to start with just because they are there.

    the 6' is the way to go IF it is truly NIB (LNIB) with matching box etc. bringing $2800 now days.
    the 38 spl targets are nice and collectible as well, but prices are lower than the 357 originals.
    i know of one that's nib for $2000 if you're interested.
