Identify this part - part II

I'm posting this again because after some head scratching I think I remember where I got this part. Years ago I acquired some M14 parts from a friend who worked at the Springfield Armory before it closed. I thought maybe this was among them so I tried it on my M1A. It replaces the front band perfectly. I wonder if this was a prototype or alternate sling swivel or maybe as someone suggested, from a T37. Any thoughts?

  Going from some National Guard depot to obtaining it from the Springfield Armory NHS is quite a jump in provenience! Until I see a screw on that swivel I am not convinced it came on any US service rifle. If you think it is from a T37 then contact Springfield Armory and let them look it over.
