marlin X7 ??

I have read quite a bit lately on the marlin X7 rifle. Does anyone have one of these that can tell me good or bad, and how the accuracy is? thanks jeff

    I don't personally own one, but have a friend of a friend that does. I have shot it at the range, helping him sight it in, before killing a deer with it the next day.

    It is not up to the Remington 700, or Winchester Model 70 standards, but it is a very nice entry level rifle for the price. Joe's rifle shot right around MOA with factory Winchester power points, and I believe it might be able to do better with better ammo and scope. He has taken a Maine moose since then with his. I would give this rifle the nod over the Remington 710, 715, or 770.

    My nephew bought his wife one in .243 WIN about 4 years ago. It came as a package deal with a Simmons scope. She has had great success with her Marlin X7 bolt action rifle and she loves it. Her only problem is patience. She is mostly settling for does and fawns. Needs to learn to wait for the big ones. IMO, it is a great value for the money, but also a great gun for a beginner. If it gets beat up a little, who cares.

    I was actually impressed with the one I saw shooting at this years, deer rifle sight in.

    The guy bought it for around $279 when they first hit the market. He had a Fullfield II on it and was shooting just under 2" @ 200. This was several 3 shot groups average. I would say there are other 'off-the-shelf' rifles that shoot better, but not for the price.

    Considering anything better than 1.5 MOA was good thirty years ago, this rifle comes in really low on price and more accurate than a lot of stuff we have sitting in our gun safes. Maybe one of the better things Remington did was buy Marlin?
