Hasting barrels.
Hasting web site is down for a while. Can anyone explain to me
how Hasting WadLock changes the barrels characteristics? Will a barrel
with Wadlock still accept other name brand chokes? Is Wadlock
designed to improve heavy loads (Buckshot)or light field loads? Thank's in advance.

Hastings barrels that are designed for shot(Wadlock), use Hastings chokes. I am not sure if they patterned their choke tubes after someone else, or have their own spin on it. I believe that they have field uses, and there have been some made for the clay bird games, that are ported and back bored. But yes, that is the idea, to create more consistant, higher density pattern's

Hastings is no longer in business from my understanding. 0 -
Hastings is out of business. The company that make the barrels is looking for a US distributor. 0 -
Hastings Wadlock barrels were based on the idea that if you manufactured a shotgun barrel with straight line grooves down the entire length, that this would prevent the shotshell wad itself from spinning as it traveled down the bore. This would provide tighter, more uniform shot patterns, with fewer wild flyers. If I recall correctly, Hastings ads boasted of 7-10 percent pattern improvement over conventional barrels. In theory, it sounds plausible. Does it really yield results such as they claim? Maybe others on this board have actually taken the time to pattern Hastings Wadlock barrels can comment. 0 -
