CZ 550 American Safari Magnum

I am seriously looking at the CZ 550 American Safari Magnum and have not decided on caliber. Could anyone tell me how this gun stacks up against the competion? Is is bedded properly and is the barrel floated?

    Yes it is fully bedded and totally accurate. A friend of mine bought one in 505 Gibbs and it is a real shooter.

    If your wondering why he bought the Gibbs, here a little story. He works 3 months a year in Africa as a PH and specializes in dangerous game hunts. A few years back a client took a bad shot on a Cape Buffalo and Eric and his partner had to chase it. The Buff charged and took 4 shots out of Eric's 416 Remington and 4 shots out of his partners 375 H&H before it crashed to the earth and slid to a stop right at their feet. After that he decided to move up to a true stopping rifle. The CZ 550 was the not only the best true value on the market, but also one of the most reliable rifles that could be bought.

    If your looking for a great large bore bolt action and you don't want to pay the money for the Purdy's or Rigby's, then you'll be more than happy with the CZ 550. My buddy Eric stakes his life on it everyday.

    In reply to statement below: No video on that one, my understanding is that it happens often with a wounded Buff, there not very pleasant animals when they are angry or injured.

    I have the CZ and think it's a fine rifle. Action is a little rough and I don't see the need for a set trigger on such a gun, but other than that I like it alot. Nice wood, all steel and integral base for the scope rings to anchor. The gun is on the longish side.

    I bought mine in 416 Rigby simply because I like the caliber and already have a single shot pistol in the same caliber.
