PPS-43 ONE MORE TIME PLEASE
I see that the folding stock is "fixed" in the folded position. How so? Is it welded? If it were completely removed would that change the "legal" status?

The stock is permanently fixed to be, and remain in unusable condition to allow it [the firearm] to be sold through the normal channels, and purchased with, no more hassle than any handgun.
There's a stock on that pistol that has been rendered unusable. An ornament. That's the gist in its entirety. Taking it off would not change its status as a pistol. Best, Joe0 -

I can only imagine that complete removal of the stock would not be illegal.0 -
It's not really welded, at least the ones I've seen arent. The PINS which hold the rings in place (think AK lockring on an underfolder) are welded in place.
It wouldn't be terribly hard, if one were so inclined and in possession of an approved Form 1, to use a mill to remove the pins and restore the stocks functionality.0
